Default The Hare Inn at Scawton.

Having Sunday lunch at a 12th century pub/restaurant called the Hare inn, haven't been for some time but enjoyed it the last time I went.

http://www.thehare-inn.com

Doesn't take long to get there but has some of the most beautiful countryside in the country.

Looks like my kind of place, Davey.

Usual admonishment applies (pix,pix,pix)

I was about to take some pics but got that look from Carole that all women are very good at, that look that says, "you dare?" I happened to reply with a rather sheepish look that said something like "I don't dare".

Food was excellent, really enjoyed it, I had 3 courses, 3 large glasses of wine and a glass of dessert wine plus coffee, Carole had two courses which came to about 70 quid, so was really pleased.

Dave, yoo really got to take the (john) bull by the horns here, and decide which is the higher priority: your wife - who after all can be readily replaced - or your priceless buddies at Watch Tryst, who look to you for guidance and inspiration regarding all things Yorkshirish. Some of us aren't getting fine breakfast dining today, ya' know?

I'm starting to wonder if maybe Carole is the right girl for you.

She told me once that she was the best girl for me and that "I BEST NOT FORGET IT". I may rebel here and tell her to do the washing herself.

Well...that may be taking things a bit too far. A couple of pics would suffice. No need to go nuclear.

"There was an Inn here in the 12th Century, built of local stone..."

Witches, sorcery, races with the devil...

"... So much for legend, what is certain is Monks, Abbots and Knights would have used the Inn beside the main road west out of Helmsley - Sperragate. Pilgrims took refreshment here, raiding Scots caroused here, English troops sought refuge, weary Parliamentarians rested, Drovers slacked the dust off the cattle trails, traders stayed to barter, dignitaries and their retinues sought accommodation."

And Dave couldn't even take a picture.

Minstrels will NOT be singing of Dave.

No, no. I've been an honorary Yorkshirman far too long to trade alliances. It's been several months now. My loyalty is to the homeland. I've come to expect a certain Yorkshire brotherhood amongst men. The kind of brotherhood that photographs food. I'm not mad, I'm just disapointed.

I have done my job well, the teacher becomes the pupil. With your brilliant chastisement of me, you are indeed proper Yorkshire, both of you.

Pictures will be taken next time, I have learnt my lesson.

The Aussies would not have got pictures, they would not get into Yorkshire.

Not to condom a whole country, but that retromingent coprophagic mod lives down under although I doubt he's an Aussie. One of these days I'll get down there and clean his clock.

Aye, mate, 'twas more a statement of intent than accuracy. Besides, even if one o' them managed to sneak through they wouldn't be dining in a place that doesn't use paper plates.
