We all have our own likes and dislikes in watches but as it's your money, it's your opinion that counts. I don't have a gold watch in my collection as I prefer stainless steel. The closest thing to gold I have is a bi-metal GMT Master II which I only wear with a suit. But if you want something blingy, then go for it but beware as it will drop in value more than other models. However if you are thinking of keeping it long term I don't suppose that matters to you.

^^^^What he said.

Gold that occurs in Swiss watches seems to be about 10x more valuable than pure gold on the spot market, and nobody does this more so than Rolex. That being said, it certainly is a looker.

I agree completely with what Uncle AJ and Doc said above. Taking their feedback in to consideration, why not look at picking up a two-tone Submariner and a stainless steel model? Essentially you can get two watches for the price of the all gold Sub.

It would be cooler to have two Rolex's than just one gold one.

..... that's my two cents

That is an amazing looking sub ! You don't really see gold with diamond dial in a sub very often ( aka serti dial ). If you did buy it congrats !
If it was me and I were buying a solid gold Rolex, it would be a president aka the Day Date. The new Day Date 40 specifically caught my eye. Beautiful watch. Then again, most gold Rolex watches are
