Hell yeah, I started out there. At the time grades 7-12 were in that building, although some of the 7th and 8th grade stuff was also in the old McCullough Elementary Building. I actually liked the Penn Joint building better than the new P-T building... it had character and lotsa neat hiding places.

I won my first Jr. High wrestling match against a Penn Joint guy. I was in 7th. I think that school was 8th and 9th at that time and only the 8th graders could play Jr. High sports. Something like that.

Do you remember Dale and Tom K*******?

Yeah, I agree. but Dale was damn good. I believe he made a little procreative error in high school, which may have derailed his aspirations.

I seem to remember that. This is bringing back memories. In the mid to late 70's PT was the laughing stocking in Westmoreland Co. HS wrestling. But they did have Dale and Tom K********* who were two of the best. The last 10 yrs or so PT has been at the top in wrestling, they are a little down now but still very good. They had a very good guy leave for Kiski Prep.

My HS coach was a very good wrestler for Penn Joint and then Duquesne. He was a young guy and working on his PHD at Duquesne at the time. He lived on a small farm over by Kistlers and was raising hogs that must have weighed 1000 lbs. Bill M******* was his name. He was a very good coach.

Yep, I knew of him too. His younger brother was maybe 2-3 years older than me. By the way, I abbreviated the names, no sense publicizing them so openly.

Good idea. Small world. I did not know any of his siblings. He was more like a kid than a teacher and coach. He quit the school a few years after I left and I think he went to teach at PT. Don't know what became of him but he dropped out of coaching for some reason.
