Default Shoveling snow

As was posted elsewhere I enjoyed a Julius Caeser (Diamond Crown) out while shoveling last night's latest snowfall.

What i hadn't told was that my son Ethan (17) also enjoyed his first cigar while he helped.

Why would I teach my 17 year old son to smoke? Bad parenting mostly.

Actually some months ago he told me that after his HS graduation he'd like to smoke a cigar with me. I warned him that his first cigar may make him sick and I wouldn't want him to be green and sick on his graduation day so maybe sometime we'd each have one before so that he could experience it and know if it was still something he wanted to do on the momentous day itself. The good news is that he didn't get sick. He also didn't think it's any big deal. I warned him that drugstore/convenience store cigars are crap and most definitely WILL make him sick so he won't be out buying those on his own.

Cool. Sounds like a good idea to me. Like so many things better to enjoy it responsibly in an adult way than sneak about getting up to no good.

As an aside, though... If he's trying to look like a bad-ass in that pic tell him he needs to work on it.

Haha, no - not a bad ass at all, although I can't think of many adults who could stand up to him if he was trying. He was just rocking some old Persols and wishing I'd finish taking the picture for his mom. I find he doesn't mind helping with work outside if I leave him alone with his music.
Recently accepted to private university DPT (doctor of physical therapy) program. Proud of that kid.

Ive read about how that lad has been brought up to the highest of standards throughout the years I have been reading your posts Bill. I think it is absolutely superb that a father and son can share moments like these. I bet your pride for your son is matched only by the pride he feels for his father. Priceless.

Thanks Dave. We've certainly put in the effort. Now only time will tell if he wants to/can do the work required to make that effort pay off.
We'll see. I hope so.

Rather personal Doc. Perhaps you should direct that question to my bride.

On second thought I'll tell you it was at least 7 and if you hear anything different she's a goddamn liar.

Hey, after all that shoveling, the least she could do is thank you.

I know right? They're so much more grateful before marriage.

Nice pictures Bill !

I NEVER smoked ANYTHING until Doc had me try a cigar several years back. I was 26 I think at the time. I've been smoking at least one cigar a month since then LOL

Proud to say he hadn't either. I had to show him how to work the lighter and to draw in. Seems elementary but for the first time he had to be instructed.
